Tobin- as it's brand new I don't have much to say yet; it seems to have more forward projection than the previous instrument I did in this vein (the soundhole was ONLY on the side) but I will let you know.

I'm planning to record with directional condensers, placed in front of me about 5 feet, and then a comparison with some condensers sort of above the soundhole. 2 or 3 feet.

Okay, here is the sound sample. I had fun hearing people's reactions to the instrument at NW Handmade Musical instrument exhibit.

The sound really comes out well, both for the payer and listener. It would be an excellent session instrument because the player can hear themselves very clearly. The cedar certainly lends a warm tone; and the Koa enhances the richness in general.

Had anybody told me an instrument had an "honest" sound, I would not have known what he meant, until now. That is exactly what this sounds like. This instrument can afford to tell no lies. Honest, strong and healthy, good to the bone.
