Default NEMD - New Electric Mando Day

Just received my new to me J Bovier EMC four stringer and man it is a good time to play this! I'd been on the fence about getting an emando for a while...wasn't sure how much I would use it. Last week a noticed an ebay auction for this one and lucky me I won it at a great price...first time ever buying anything on ebay. Great seller and this is a nice mando...better than I thought it would be honestly. I play a nice BRW for my acoustic but this one is well intonated and set up and certainly doesn't come off like an entry level instrument.

I am a novice when it comes to electric instruments but recently my interest has grown. I picked up a Roland Micro Cube since I don't have a single amp in this house and man am I am happy with that purchase. I had no idea about effects and with the Micro Cube it is a really nice entry into the soundscapes of electric instruments. Perfect size and volume for my cramped music room. It can do pure sounds for jazz and related and with a quick nob adjustment can do hard core rock sounds, delay, phaser...tons of options. I think it was the recent Fretboard Journal story about the Jazzmasters that got me thinking about electric instruments and different sounds...go figure!

I'm definitely looking forward to learning new approaches to mandolin through my new set up...and to infusing my bluegrass/jazz/Dawg/blues band with some emando flavors on select tunes! Go emandos!
