Default Bitten by the Mandolin Bug - not TaterBug

    Hi, all
    I'm new here!
I started playing mandolin in September 2012, after struggling to learn guitar and ukelele, with a background in piano.
My first mandolin leaped off the shelf at a suburban shop. when I plucked the E and A strings, I said, "I have to have this sound!"
I bought it, and a lesson book and got started.
Here it is.Click image for larger version.

Later, after the holidays, I started lessons at our local music shop (where I bought my guitar and uke), and that first night, I browsed the selection of mandolins. And there it was - the red mandolin with the scroll! I debated about it for exactly 20 days, and it became my birthday present! I love how it has the electric features, so my DH (dear hubby) found me a cord, and amp, and iRig for my ipod. Click image for larger version.

So, I am having a blast making music, bluegrass, old-timey, and rock, too!
I joined the beginner's jam sessions at my music teacher's shop, so I'm learning to "play well with others."

I can't think of a better instrument on which to play music. Of course I may be prejudiced.

Welcome to our wacky world. You will have fun and get frustrated but keep at it and the skills will come. If not, take two aspirin and call me in the morning.
