Are there any Bluegrass Jam groups in the suburbs area north of Chicago? Any Bluegrass festivals?

Not sure of any specifics, but here is the url to the jam page on the Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association website. There seem to be some in the north suburbs, but I'd call if possible to check on current status before going. There are also festival listings elsewhere on the website.
Enjoy!

Re: Bluegrass Jam groups in the suburbs north of Chicago
There are several in Lake County. I am unsure of the player level involved at these being a Southsider . Ive been able to play at a jam 3 to 4 times a week up this way and in the western burbs . The link to th NIBA page should get you to the lion's share of the Chicago area jams. As far as festivals go if your up to a little travel the " Kendallville Bluegrass Festival " , jamb and show is being held this Memorial day weekend in northeast Indiana. You can get 3 days worth of campfire jamming done there . Don't forget the Frankfort Bluegrass Festival being held July 13 & 14 in downtown Frankfort ( near RT 45 and Rt 30 ) . Here are links to the festivals

The festival season is getting underway and some of the listed jambs are suspended until September . So check before heading out .
Almost forgot to mention the Fox Valley Folk Festival in late August in Geneva. There is a new Bluegrass festival being planned for the metro Chicago area in August 2014 .

Re: Bluegrass Jam groups in the suburbs north of Chicago
We've got a great jam that meets the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month in Grayslake at the Lord of Glory church just west of Allegany Rd on Rt 120. Meets at 8PM. Different groups play all types of music but we have a core group that plays bluegrass. Send me a PM and I'll email you the address to get on the newsletter. There's also a once a month jam in palatine but mainly folk music.
