Just found this. No idea regarding its accuracy.

An extremely clear version of Big Mon is the Sam Bush/Jerry Douglas duet. Since there are just two instruments you can really hear the mando both in lead and rhythm. And of course Sam puts some Texas twists in there.

Pike County in the original A is extremely simple the first time through (Monroe), the 2nd time he has this long run from the low A (G string) up to the A string that definitely is a challenge at speed.

also the big mon on Sam Bush "late as usual" starts off fairly slow

pretty much just banjo and fiddle

heck I can even play along at that speed

Yeah, for fiddle and banjo cr&p, it ain't half bad...lol.

A burning version is Adam on Young Mando Monsters. He actually invented some licks in there that are heard throughout the parking lots these days.

I see where Dave Harvey does Big Mon on the new Gibson KOA wood F5. Very nice clean version. I saw it on facebook.com under his name but can't seem to find it on youtube.com.

Marc, neighbor from the Isles, don't know when your gig will be, but do you have the original Monroe recording of that tune? Any later Bobby Hicks version would also do, since he never really changed it.

Here's just the straight melody and chords. I transcribed it onto Sibelius using the straight melody to he best that I hear it.
