Thread: Would this be a good base for a guitar bodied zouk/cittern?

Question Would this be a good base for a guitar bodied zouk/cittern?

Emerald guitars are very accommodating to producing custom ideas, do you think this would be a good choice to base a guitar bodied cittern/short scale bouzouki on?

    I was thinking:

    • their standard 24 inch scale
    • 5 courses
    • 42mm nut
    • low to high gdaea/gdadg
    • unison strung

Most guitar bouzoukis seem to be 15 inch plus at the widest but the offset sound hole is meant to increase the bass response which I'd hope would offset the smaller size.

On a 24" scale you might be better going CCGGDDAAEE...

Would that make it an octave mandolin/'cello or is that technically still a bouzouki?

My Phil Crump is a 26" scale 10-string - CCGGDDAAEE. I use it to cover Mandocello and Octave Mandolin... for the name see the thread on OM v. Bouzouki that's still raging...
