What a great instrument, Kevin. It really rings out and the higher treble notes are so clear and there is a very good balance across the strings.
The body looks bigger than standard mandolin, but maybe that is just because of the resonator?
The playing is rather tasty too!

Fantastic sound. The high notes in particular are brilliant but the whole thing is well balanced. Great playing too!

    Thanks for sharing!

I could not find this in the classifieds. Do you have a link?

We're not supposed to advertise on the board, rightly, but if you look at the 10th January 2013 ad section for mandolins its there ...

Looks like my old Triolian, shape and size-wise, and sounds similar except that the Triolian has a steel body producing metallic overtones.

Nice balanced sound... a bit more typically "reso" than my RM-1 (which I use flatwound strings on specifically to reduce the brightness). Fine playing too!

Likewise, Dan. What I remember most was the admiring crowd you and Kevin attracted when you had an impromptu duet on the Fine Resophonics stand.

    Hi Kevin

Ruth says your Mum will be proud of you - wearing your Christmas jumper for the video!

And the instrument is a great piece of kit - and very eye-catching. Thanks for the tunes.

    All the best

Hello, my first post in this forum...
I'm interested in the Fine Resophonics mandolin - not the all-metal model but the model they produced earlier: wood with a resonator. If you have any thoughts on quality I'd very much like to hear them. Also, I'd like to find out how much they cost when they were first produced.
I'm a blues mandolin player, actually more like a guitar player who started playing the mandolin as a sideline and became really enthusiastic. My current mandolin is the Kentucky KM 250.

    Looking forward to your reactions!
    Michael

The all metal mandolins seem priced similar to the National RM-1.

Why not contact the maker directly for more info? Fine Resophonic Email

I think the RM-1 is an excellent mandolin overall and with amazing tone and volume. I owned an original late 1920s National and sold it when I got the modern version.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reaction. I did mail Fine Resophonics, but have not received an answer so far.
