    Default my "folk punk"/adventure band

    Hey, mandolin friends!

My band, The Manx, is a 4 piece/acoustic band consisting of mandolin, banjo, accordion, and double bass. We also all sing and shout together.

We're finishing up a new EP within this upcoming month (January '13), and I realized I never shared a link to our current music. We have a 6 song EP available to check out on our BandCamp page and also at the Facebook link below (click on the BC tab for music). Please check us out and "like" the page, if you do enjoy the songs.

Who are your influences? I'm a huge fan of folk-punk, and I played guitar in a punk band when I was younger.I'm hoping to channel my mandolin skills in that direction, but I've got a long way to go before I'm confident and able to write original stuff again.

Cool. It sounds like Lemmy of Motorhead met up with Shane McGowan of the Pogues and they kidnapped Bela Fleck. Quite the party.

    Thanks!

I just started playing this year so I could make music with these guys! I didn't really know anything about the mandolin beforehand, and never imagined wanting to play one, but I love it! I'm 2 mandolins, 2 OMs, and a banjo deep in just the past 12 months! As for influences, I've just been YouTubing every mandolinist that I can. I did buy the Chris Thile dvd, though.

I did just take this photo this morning, so I could take my tree down!
