Question The first song you learned

    Hi everybody
What was the first song you ever learned on Mandolin?
In addition to refreshing some sweet old memories this would give beginners like myself good suggestions for songs to learn.
    thanks in advance

Harvest Home was the first song I could play pretty decent but I think that I first learned a simple tune of Bury Me Beneath the Willows

My two favorite pastimes are drinking wine and playing the mandolin but most of my friends would rather hear me drink wine! Adapted from quote by Mark Twain------supposedly !

Probably Arkansas Traveler, from Steve Kaufman's Parking Lot Picker, Vol. 1 book. Actually, maybe "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", which was the first thing I ever picked out by ear on mando, and which I had played for years on guitar before I ever picked up a mandolin. "Old Joe Clark" was always my best flat picking tune on the guitar, so I probably learned it pretty early on mando as well.

First song I learned all the way through was Chinatown Jailbreak, by Flatfoot 56. First song I learned that someone on the cafe might recognize, was Whiskey in the Jar.

I'm pretty sure that the first song I attempted to learn was "My Last Days on Earth" by Bill Monroe back in the mid `80's. It sounded like he was bending strings or something and I couldn't get it, although I figured out some of the double stops. Years later I discovered that he used a different tuning for that song which I've learned as well as the song!
