When we are all gone and the machines take over the world this is how they will carry on the musical traditions that we are celebrating here in this forum.

I think some of those videos are cool, but that one creeps me out. But it is nice to know that when the Robot Overlords take control they'll still be putting needless points and scrolls on their instruments.

That sounds suspiciously like a MIDI file. Anybody else hear it that way?

All I can think about is the horrible intonation problems that thing would have... :-)

I think this is much cooler:

???? how would a midi file sound different from a mechanical device making music?

What people spent there time on these days.

I would have at least started out with Rawhide or the Liverpool Reel. Anyway, here is how they did that:

In this case, too much consistency of timbre between an open note and a fretted note (even high-fretted) on the same string.

I wonder if it has a Virzi...
"Well, I don't know much about bands but I do know you can't make a living selling big trombones, no sir. Mandolin picks, perhaps..."

OK, well I have no clue as to whether it is real or not. The moon showing up conveniently in the window does not look too authentic but it would be pretty hard to make an animation of something like that also.

Funny--I also thought "Alien." I can't figure out why. Except maybe "Kill me!"

I note, by the way, that there's not an "F" style in the bunch. Just sayin.

I've been building instruments for nearly 30 years and I've never done a digital animation, but even with that head start on building the real thing, I'll take the challenge of the animation as the easier path!
Oh, and digital distressing? Digital Virzi? Piece of cake!

I think it plagiarized a "Journey" song
