I thought they were great. Well done video too. Poor cold bass player.

Nice Mando tone. Couldnt read name on headstock. Could you ?

I would love to have a band playing that type stuff (if only I had the talent and time).

We cover a few of their tunes (without the talent or the time), but it's still a lot of fun. If I enjoyed their lead singer's voice more--or if they shared vocals more--I'd probably listen to little else. Not that I have a great voice, but there are some bands that I otherwise love, like Yonder, where I just don't find myself enjoying the vocals enough to listen to them a lot. Credit to all those vocalists who are putting their heart into it, though, even if it's not a voice I'm drawn to.

Vocalist sounds a tad like Arlo Guthrie to me, but maybe it's just Thanksgiving week and I've "Alice's Restaurant" ringing in my ears.

A nice easy vocal, lked it a lot. Not sure if could listen for a long time, but this was nice. I also like folk, but can't stand a lot of it.

Railroad Earth is one of my favorites bands going today... really great musicians, many of who play more than one instrument (and play them all well), with really great song writing.

John Skehan (mandolin) is great. I'm not a musical expert by any means, but it seems to me that since the band has a drummer, Skehan doesn't need to help provide that bed of rhythm that is required from a mandolinist playing in a more traditional bluegrass band. As a result he seems free to play a lot or harmony/accompaniment and adds a lot of ornamentation to the music. He's also written some great instrumental tunes like "Carrying The Coal To Newcastle," "Lois Ann," and "Green roofs of Eireanne" (where he plays a Bouzouki).

Some people have a hard time warming up to Todd Sheaffer's voice, but many (like myself) really like it. IMO he has an unique singing style that fits the wonderful lyrics he writes.

Anyway, a fun band with a good following of really nice people. I'm looking forward to when the come to Boston in February!

In addition to John, Andy Goesling (playing banjo on this cut) is also a great mando player (and guitar, dobro, flute, sax... you get the picture)

Sorry to have distracted this thread, on one of my favorite bands! I was just reflecting out loud about how too much of some voices--even voices I really like, like the lead singer for Rusted Root--leads me to want to listen to something else. In my ideal world, these guys would sing lead on about a third of the songs. On the other hand, there are voices I never get tired of!

I'll never miss a chance to see RRE when they come through. My favorite band and good guys to boot. Here's a clip of just Andy, Tim, and John doing a medley.

I like these guys a lot, but I've not had any luck finding this recording. Is it available anywhere you know of?
