Francis your right mate ,i had a go at one of his mandolins in the workshop and am fighting the temptation of ordering a matching cherry and spruce one, could well be a losing battle . all the best

B U Tfull...... Like billhay4 said, love to hear it.
What an elegant design. That bridge and tail piece have a great look to them all by themselves. I am with those wanting to hear it.
An absolute cracker! Love those tuners and the tailpiece - is it a custom-made one?
thanks for the comments, i'm well pleased with it. yes John, local builder Alan Mayers made it for me, i'm very impressed with his work, so much so that after a very educational morning looking and tapping woods, i've ordered a flat top mandolin, lutz top, walnut back and sides, should be interesting. will get a wee recording done of the tenor as soon as my fingers recover from yesterdays introduction, those single strings are hard on the auld fingers !
Brilliant in its simplicity. Congratulations!
Anyone know if this guy is still in business? No replies to my queries about an instrument I ordered back in 2012….

Re the above - I have been informed Alan Mayers has gone out of business. Now I’ll have to chase my deposit….
