    Default My old Kentucky km850

My 1985 KM850 is serial # 16785. I bought it new in 1988. Retail then was around $1150. I got an email years ago form a dude at Saga that researched it and gave me the year of mfg as 1985, and I also have the original Saga catalogue. All original, except the machines. I replaced nearly all of the buttons on the original heads because all slowly cracked in half. Finally, in an attempt to upgrade, I bought a new set of Schaller Machines and installed them. Thing is they are reversed from before (worm gear is on top) and this also works reverse from my guitar. So its a pain to get used to. I installed an LR Baggs radius pick up (inside under the top)and play through a LR Baggs Venue. Good set up, great sound except quite a bit of handling sound comes through. This though is a great mando--not as loud as some but plays well. Only "ding" issue is binding on back separated slightly at inside of scroll.
