Thanks-- I love cross cultural stuff. It always makes me hear music with new ears.

This is a few years old but it is great to see it again. Giulian Liu was in a band called Silk Road and played at the Edmonton Folk Festival and did a workshop with Tom O'Brien and Casey Dreissen and a couple of others whose names elude me at the moment. It was one of the best workshops ever, a real workshop where the players actually played with each other. I remember a great version of Working on a Building where Giulian Liu took an amazing Monroe style solo on the pipa. She also explained a little about Chinese chord progressions and style and had everyone jamming on a Chinese instrumental. The players were grinning at each other and having a great time. It was brilliant.
