    Default Ampeg Gemini II

Just got one and it is COOL! Was very surprised when I plugged into it at a store. I was looking for a silverface Deluxe Reverb and came home with this instead (and much less $$). Great older Jazz sound. Here's a couple pics of Wes Mongomery playing through one.

Ampegs are super cool amps. They tend towards the "cleaner" end of the spectrum, which is great for mandolin. In their early days, Ampegs founder Everet Hull [coming from the jazz world] focused on making amps that didn't distort. Leo Fender was trying his darnest to stop his amps from distorting as well, but history shows they both failed miserably - in a good way.

    Congrats!

I think he may have suceeded when he split from Fender and created the MusicMan series of amps. I still have my MusicMan HD212, which was their version of the venerable Twin Reverb. Pretty clean.

I want a 1x12 Reverbrocket in the worst way, but have absolutely no use for it of course.

the Tube Amp head that flipped over , into the cabinet for transport, was a unique feature.

The reverb on this thing is the coolest I've heard anywhere.

Man, if it sounds anything like the YouTube clip above, that's something...
I have a Gemini I that doesn't sound anything like that...
    Different animal entirely...

I heard the club story a couple days ago. I wonder if that pic of Wes is with a club amp? Sure would like to know what session it was...
