Ok... please watch this excerpt from a Sam Bush instructional DVD and tell me the name of the last song that he plays. #Sam Bush

I want to look up the tab for it on Mandozine but for the life of me can't remember what the name of the tune is.

    Thanks,

Thanks, Guys... While they both sound similar, I do believe Daybreak in Dixie is what I'm looking for.

That is definitely not "Daybreak In Dixie".
    If F-model mandolins have F-holes then why don't A-model mandolins have A-holes???

hey, where did you get that Sam Bush instructional DVD? I checked his website & didn't find it there. I've been using Roland Martin's book/cd but I've reached a point where I've learned most of the songs and am just practicing them over & over; nothing wrong with that but I would like more lessons/tunes to learn. Appreciate any info you have. Thanks!

    Maybe it's clone "Ralph's Banjo Special" ?

We got ya dead to rights, MJ. It's indeed Daybreak in Dixie (a.k.a Ralph's Banjo Special).

    Wanna bet? #

Don't bet, MJ, you gonna lose...

Sam-bent "Daybreak in Dixie", fer sure.

Agreed, Ralph's (and Ricky's) version has the VII as the second chord, but the straight I IV V way is how I have heard it recorded most often.

Thx, I found it browsing mandozine...59.95 for the 2 cd set..seems a bit steep. From browsing the liner notes it certainly seems to be an advanced course which for me at the present time would be a waste. I think I'll give myself at least a year on the mando before I tackle it. That's the logic I'm taking with my wife; before I shell out the 2500 or so that I anticipate spending on my next mando I have to get good enough to warrant the expense. My wife's OK with that; I don't know if that indicates a lack of faith in me on her part or whether she thinks I'm being smart for once

I couldn't get the clip to download, but I have the DVD....isn't the song he plays at the close "Big Rabbit" ?

That is exactly what I was thinking when I heard that. I am still thinking that. I think part of the confusion on it is because when he recorded Big Rabbit on Howlin at the Moon he only played the lead on fiddle. He does it on mando on the DVD and I think that is what we have heard here. I could be wrong but I have never heard any version of Daybreak in Dixie or Ralph's that was like that. Listen to Adam Steffey's version on Grateful and that is how I have always heard it played.

I need to check out the clip again, but the part I saw, which seemed to be the last segment of that clip, sounded a lot like D in D. Could be wrong, but I doubt it
