Default Thanks for the Thanks, Scott T.!

I may be slow in noticing this but I just wanted to say thanks to Scott T. and crew for giving the option to "thank" people for their posts. It's a nice feature that I just noticed a couple of days ago so thanks, Scott!

Apologies if this has already been posted as I didn't look through the archive.

Same here. I remember making the comment, 'Where's the "Like" button?' on a post a couple of weeks ago. Scott replied that there was a similar option on the board that he would look into, so I guess this is it!

Well this may be as good a place as any to ask, can we turn the "thanks" off so they do not show?

What's even better is that you can remove your thanks

I'd say, thanks ... thanks a lot, but probably more accurate to say thanks for nothing and leave it at that. That's not directed at the head honcho, BTW, but folks who missed the original announcement, in which Scott offered this function as a means of diminishing just this sort of posts. And here's a whole thread!?!? I yi yi!

And here I am, adding another post to it. Oh well!

Only in the interest of providing feedback to the guys who work so hard to make this such a great forum, I too would quite like to be able to 'disable' the 'Thanks' posts, which I find a bit distracting.

If there is already a way to do this, I apologise for not having sought it out yet.

If not, perhaps a more FB-style 'likes' button would be less of a distraction. 'Seven people like this post' - with their names available on one additional click.

Again, this is not meant to be a grumpy grouch. Just feedback.

Ron, if more than 10 people thank a post, it looks like this will happen automatically.

Journeybear, like I said in my original post, I DIDN'T look at the archives but typically think I'm pretty on with the announcements of new features, etc. on this site. I obviously missed this one! I do like your comment about a whole thread thanking the Mando Cafe gods for the thanks. I guess that's why Scott T. and the others didn't "thank" me for it. Hah! Funny.

Oh...and I "thanked" you for your post, also.

Got a real good chuckle out of your post, Rob, and - honestly - this thread, just for the irony and absurdity of its existence. Timing isn't everything, but when it works, it's great! And hey - any thread that can bring some sort of joy to readers is serving a useful purpose.

That's what I was going for, Journeybear. I'm glad I hit my mark. Thanked you again!

My thoughts exactly when I first read this and decided to resist the temptation to post that sort of comment but now that you did it for me, JB, I just have one thing to say to you.
