    The secret is out: learn and transcribe solos from the masters. It can't be said enough and I need it beat into my head. It's not enough to buy a book of transcribed solos. The transcribing needs to be done by yourself. That's where the learning takes place.

    Jason Anick is a stellar player, but how about Jacob Jollif on that video. Berklee is turning out some great mandolin players, but in Jollif's case he showed great promise many years ago. I remember him from Dawg's Pups at Wintergrass maybe 10 years ago.
