Default Portal Irish Music Week - Register Early!

Our inaugural camp last fall was so much fun and so well received, we're excited to do it again, October 11-16, 2012, in beautiful Portal, Arizona! Go to http://portalmusicweek.com/ for more information and to register.

Stellar player and teacher Marla Fibish (http://www.marlafibish.com/) will return to teach Irish mandolin, and we're welcoming tune hound and accompaniment wizard Matt Heaton (http://www.mattandshannonheaton.com/) on bouzouki and guitar.

Rounding out our faculty are Brian Conway (http://www.brianconway.com/) on fiddle, Eliot Grasso (http://www.eliotgrasso.com/Home.html) on flute and uilleann pipes, Pete Strickler on tenor banjo, and Will Harmon on fiddle.

We've tweaked the class schedule this year to offer both group and one-on-one classes each day, as well as daily workshops and learning sessions. Plus we'll have a field trip or nature activity each day to take advantage of Portal's remarkable ecological diversity and beauty. (Last year's highlights included golden eagles, migrating humming birds, coati mundis, wild javelinas wandering by at lunch, an easy hike in the Chiricahua Mountains, and the moons of Jupiter at a local astronomer's observatory.

We're thrilled to already have four return campers signed up! Class size is limited, so don't miss out--register early! http://portalmusicweek.com/

PM me if you have any questions.
    Cheers,
    Will

Nice to see more repeat customers among the early registrations!

We're working up a short list of "core tunes" that we'll post on the web site shortly. This way, everyone can come to Portal in October with at least a couple of sets in common, and instructors can use those tunes to talk about phrasing, variations, articulations, etc., without having to burn time teaching tunes. (Of course, they *will* be teaching cool tunes, too!)

We're also taking suggestions for workshop topics, so sign up and send us your ideas!
