    Default Open Irish sessions

I'm going to be traveling to Sebastopol, Ca. Over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, and am trying to locate an open session in the area. Please respond ASAP, as we are leaving Friday pm.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Tony Becker sends out a weekly listing of Celtic activities in the Bay Area from his "Americeltic" website.

    http://www.americeltic.net/

If you e-mail Tony, I'm sure he'll send you his current mailing (I keep deleting mine out of my mailbox as they arrive).

The listing that Allen gave is several years out of date.

Hey, I was jus' tryin' to help out...no good deed goes unpunished!

Parenthetically, though, that's one problem with doing 'net searches, which I often find extremely useful. Nothing about that web page to indicate the info's not current. Obviously, each session venue had a phone number, and I'd guess no one would go tootling off through Marin County with out checking first if the session was still being held.

Thanx, Ed S, for coming through with more up-to-date linkage. Hope Mike's able to find a session to visit.

Dunno about sessions in Sonoma County anymore, but The Starry Plough sessions in Berkeley have been going strong since the early 70's. It's the real deal as far as I'm concerned. I've been blessed to have been served by both the founder and her children over the last 40 years. If you show up, and Eileen is bartending, please tell her hello from Loretta!
    Just visiting.

The Sunday afternoon session at the Sleeping Lady in Fairfax is a very good session, and it's reasonably close to Sebastopol. Both the Starry Plough session in Berkeley and the Plough and Stars session in SF on Sunday evening are long-standing sessions with some excellent players, but they're a bit further away.

A good caveat Allen. There are some good listings on The Session.org site, but nobody goes through to cull out the inactive ones. Sessions CAN last for years, but many of them change from time to time, so always check out an online listing.

Remember Allen, us old guys stick together.

Allen, please understand, I always enjoy your contributions to the fora. In this case, I am definitely laughing with you, not at you. I think we can admit Eddie's wit was good on this one(?).
