I'm about to do the binding work on my A model Stew Mac kit, and have been reading about the pros and cons of using the Stew Mac glue. I have an old tube of the original DUCO cement and was wondering if it's still usable. The tube seems to be pliable enough. Guess I could just do a test glue-up job on some binding. Also, you can find DUCO cement here:

However, 1 oz. does not seem to be a very big tube. I guess Devcon now makes the DUCO brand?

Old Duco will work. If it has gotten sort of thick, mix in some acetone. I do this anyway because Duco seems to me like it has gotten thicker in general. I was starting to have problems with binding joints and the problems went away when I started adding some acetone.
I put my Duco/acetone mix in small plastic bottles like you can buy at Michaels or somewhere like that. Empty superglue bottles work well. Whatever bottle you use, check first to be sure that acetone wont dissolve it.

As long as I can remember the Duco tube said "Devcon Duco cement". If I remember correctly, that is.

Old Duco Cement, as in Made by E.I. DuPont old. I went ahead and used it anyway. Works just fine.

That stuff must have been in that kitchen drawer. You know the one where things keep getting put 'til nobody could know what's been in there for twenty years.

Maybe it'll make your mando sound old!

Hell, this is my first mando to build. I'm just hoping the top doesn't cave in!
