Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.

According to the Elderly website it's 8 strings per pack (2 per course).

Oh NFI for the ebay link BTW, I just wonder why Fender don't specify. (They could sell it as a 2 sets for Fender pack or something I guess...)

Sure , they ship them on new mandolins, like the FM61se, ball end, it's a thru the body type design.
