Default Okay, What Did Santa Bring?

It's already Christmas morning here on Okinawa. Merry Christmas everyone! Mandolin-related gifts included a new set of Elixer Nonoweb light guage strings, a Lakota Leathers strap for my Goldrush, and the book "The Mandolin Case" by Tom Bibby. How did you do? What kind of mandolin or musically inspired gifts did Santa bring you?

Even though it isn't Christmas yet here in Montana, I do know that I am getting 3 months of the Mike Marshall Bluegrass Academy. I picked that present out for myself.

Not really Mandolin specifically, but Hannuklaus brought me the hardware connector for this iPhone app:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ampli...373309342?mt=8

Both of my mandolins have pickups so I'll be able to play them through here, with effects which should be fun. Metal mando anyone?

I got 5 sets of ft74 strings and a violin. oh and a G harmonica. I can play the violin better with a pick than the bloody bow. That's going to take me until next Christmas to figure out LOL. I'm jamming this week with the fella that bought my Epiphone mando... should be fun and the animals will be howling at 2 rookies....

Santa must be trying to tell me something, just about everything I got was related to my golf game, no musical stuff....Maybe he thinks I am as good as I`ll ever be, could be too....There is still one person that hasn`t came for dinner yet and she works at a music store so maybe I`ll get a "musical" present after all....

    Have a great Christmas....Willie

    Willie,
I got 2 dozen Titleist ProV1X balls, a Bushnell Golf GPS, a Frogger golf towel and several shirts. I think my family wants me on the course and not playing my mandolin around the house. Are they implying something?

    - one cat with a badly broken tibia and a thus far irreparable abd hernia (surgery again tomorrow)
    - twin 6-year-old foster children
    - a new R&B band to gig with (horns & percussion)
    - promises of "getting together more in 2012" from my bluegrass cronies
    - new business software to implement Jan 1
    - a new office room...to accomodate another bedroom for the new kids
    - so far, no partridge in a pear tree...but the day is young

...haven't opened presents yet...hoping those are generally less life-altering than the ones given me earlier this week...

Strings, a new choro book and sheet music for a workshop this spring. Although there was this odd, worn black medium-weight guitar pick sitting on my dining room table that no one will acknowledge they left there...

    * Morley Power Wah pedal
    * Two-button foot-switch for Fender Super Champ amp
    * A new music stand
    * An aluminum "Mandolin Dr." street sign to be hung above the door to my practice room.
    * A collage of photos of me playing my mandolins & guitars suitable for framing.
    * A couple of months of Skype lessons with Don Julin

I've been playing my '08 Telecaster through the Morley and into the Super Champ all day. Sounds fantastic! I'm really looking forward to hearing the new Ryder e-mando through this rig.

Needless to say this was an awesome Christmas for me...I'm very thankful, and I hope all my fellow Mandolin Cafers received everything they desired!

    My wife treated me to:

    A Flatiron 3K bouzouki (1991)
    A Peterson StroboClip
A book (The Chinery Collection) on 150 years of American guitar history and
    A Gibson L-Century (1993)

Wonderful. I have been playing all afternoon.

Nice. I remember when I got my first electric guitar and amp under the tree christmas morning when I was 12 years old...played all morning and afternoon...

These days, all I want is a little serenity..

One of the best Christmases in recent memory. Can't wait to get back from work mad get to work on my scales and basic chords!

A Merry Mando Christmas to all!

Very sweet! I got some strings, and a Boss looper for my electric mandolin, which has proved to be a very nice tool in making sure I keep dead-on time when I lay down a rhythm track.

The reason I have not been playing much mandolin lately.
    The first man who whistled
thought he had a wren in his mouth.
    He went around all day
    with his lips puckered,
    afraid to swallow.
