Anyone what know what options are available? I'm looking for a case for a two-point 'cello, but an F-style case would work, I think. We thought we had a line on a custom case, but it fell through. Thanks!

Easy; all it takes is plenty of money and plenty of waiting time.
I don't know of anyone making and selling a stock case for a scroll-bearing 'cello, and I'd be surprised if anyone is making one. You'll probably have to go with a custom case. I know that Cedar Creek offers such a service (not cheap!), and probably other case makers do to. Let us know what you end up with.

My K4 came in a dreadnaught case and it fits surprisingly well.

Mine were A shaped but fit well in a dreandought case with plenty of room for two points, I would think. The great thing is those are readily availble to try before you buy. Good Luck.
You could ask the folks at Weber...

I have a big bodied bouzouki being built now
The builder asked me which case and I did some research
I think I settled on a resonator banjo case , 14.5" x 40"
Not sure a 2 point would fit
Thanks

I use a classical guitar case for one of my bouzouki's
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. Sounds like a dread case may be the best bet. I just put in a request at Cedar Creek today, so I'll see what they come up with.

Sam at Pegasus cases has a very nice mandocello/bouzouki case shell that would probably adapt to fit yours too.. He made them for Steve Owsley Smith instruments, which are teardrop cello size, or two point bodies, or even nearly-guitar-shaped with scrolls
Thanks for the tip, Dan. I'll get in touch with Sam.

Hey, mandocellists!
Thread economy here!
So, it seems obvious to me that the best I can hope for as a mandocello case for my new Afanti F is an archtop guitar case. However, my first excursion to Guitar Center was not initially encouraging. I found one case that fit the 'cello nicely all around but it was not deep enough. The one archtop case I tried was deep enough but way too big.
Does anyone have suggestions for a small archtop guitar case? It's tough searching for guitar cases by dimensions...which are probably something like...
Body Length: 20.5 in
body Height (incl. bridge): 5.5 in
Lower Bout: 14.5 in
Mid Bout: 10 in
Upper Bout: 11 in
Total Length: 40 in
I may just need to settle for a soft padded gig bag and be careful not to bump the bridge.
Thanks in advance!
Jonathan,
You might give this Prestige Arch-Top Small Jumbo / 175-Style Guitar Case a look see?
There is this "plain" version and there is also a "delux" version -- same size but the latter has gold hardware and red-wine plush for about $40 more I think.
P.S. did you get a chance to post a video on your new mandocello yet?

I've thought for quite a while that there may be a market for custom and odd shaped cases.. Not talking about the hard side uncrushable types, just something to store and protect.. Maybe fiberboard or plywood.. Something that could be easily bent and formed and still be able to be reasonably priced... A pipe dream ?????

Yes, Keith it seems to me that you are correct and that there might be such a need to address given the high cost of a custom "flight" case. Maybe there might be a unfulfilled need a lighter weight case for doing things like keeping the instrument on a shelf or taking it in a car for example. What do you think a person would have to charge for custom-made light or medium weight case for a F-style octave mandolin or mandocello for example?
