Thread: Tuner replacement question

    Default Tuner replacement question

I'm preparing to replace the tuners on my 1919 Gibson A Jr with Stew Mac vintage replica tuners. In order to keep the bridge in place and some tension on the top of the instrument is it ok to replace the tuners one side at a time? Or would the uneven tension on the top be worse than taking of both sets of tuners at the same time?

I apologize if this is a really dumb question.

    thanks
    Kelly

Your Gibson will be just fine if you remove both tuners at the same time. Reference where the bridge is located beforehand. I am pleased with the stewmac replica tuners on one of my old Gibsons. I did file the grooves off the sides of the bushings so they would fit in the standard size holes though.
