Recording software

For the non professional what is good recording software?
Have been using Cakewalk Music Creator and it is OK with a pretty steep learning curve. I am hoping some of that can translate to other brands. Let me know gang. I know Audacity is the choice in the Song of the Month Board and am trying that as well.

OK so I did a search and got some results from that. aardvark. Cubase, etc,
I guess what is important is some ease of use, a co. that is still in business,(user forums),etc.

All of them will have learning curves, and all have strengths and weaknesses. #For ease of learning, I find Cool Edit Pro easiest. #It is now Adobe Audition.

Search www.homerecording.com and look in the archives. #This has been discussed a lot of times. #You'll find lots of opinions.

Let me put a quick plug for Audacity. It's easy to use, will work on PCs, Macs and Linux, and the price is very good. I use it all the time for cleanup work.

Another vote for Cool Edit...now Adobe Audition. There is nothing (that I have found or need anyway) you can't do with this program.
