Thread: My Franken-mandolin faux resonator with a Gibson neck

Default My Franken-mandolin faux resonator with a Gibson neck

Hi, I bought this mandolin some time ago on ebay...yes, it's one of those ebay purchases! It was listed as a 'resonator' with a Gibson banjlin neck, but when I got it and removed the cover had just a wood top, painted silver. I later discovered that such a thing exists as a 'faux-resonator'. I almost sold it on ebay, but had second thoughts as it sounds pretty good for blues. Anyway, I'm wondering what it is, as the inlays do look like the inlays on Gibson banjo necks and banjolin necks...it also appears that maybe the body was built on to the neck. I have lots more pictures, but here's some for starters.

    Thanks for the help,
    Cindy
