Default Tuners and tailpiece for bowl back mandolin

Hi I'm Isaac and this is my bowl back mandolin.

Where would I get parts to replace the tailpiece and tuning knobs?

    Thanks for the help,
    Isaac

expensive hand made, period replicas can be bought and shipped fromItaly,
and a custom Luthier can make a different tailpiece, there are still, very nice Bowl back mandolins being made in Europe..
you got a lot of money to pour into this project?

Or you could see if Stew Mac has something that will work ,
they have a similar tailpiece, stocked, but not a contract exclusive.

you measure the peg tuner spacing ?,
they made dimensioned drawings of there so you can compare, your measurements with theirs.

Do the tuners work? Does the tailpiece? Is there a reason you want to replace them?

I can sort of see replacing the tailpiece. This one should work tho it does have a hole for the endpin.

Those tuners look complete. If they are just difficult to turn, read this: http://www.lutherie.net/tuner.maintenance.html Highly likely you don't need to replace them at all.

Thank you schlegal, they are just hard to turn. I'm just going to try to lubricate it. Also is there any way to refurnish or get rid of the rust on the tailpiece?

    Thanks,
    Isaac

You could always get it Re plated, after you have the rust spots polished back to bare steel..
The cost effective part, is for your judgment.
