    Hi Mary,

Wow, thanks for posting this. As always, it's beautiful. I love the one-piece back. Careful, you'll start an MAS epidemic!

    Best wishes,

10-string Mandocello? Is the extra course ultra A or Infra C? What string gauges will you use? Do you accept indentured-service as payment?

Thanks for posting the pics. It's great seeing the beautiful instrument taking shape, and it's especially wonderful to see the Weber family at work and having fun doing it.

Mary, you guys work miracles in Montana. I miss The West, but thanks to you and Gibson I always can take The West with me.

Heavens, I bet that'll be a monster when it's strung up, would love to hear a sound clip when you do!

PS what's the scale length on that one? I'm guessing about 24" with a .012 e string?

    Cheers, John.

Stunner! Be sure to put spaces between all the plates and glasses in the cupboard before you try it out!

With a 27" scale that thing is gonna roar. I hope the owner has hands like Mike Marshall's or can shift positions very quickly!

Yep, that's bigger than most bass guitar scales...I play bass and that will be a bit big for me. SOUND will be HUGE, but fingering will take some work or else MEGA shifting. I guess that's the point of the high E, tho'...

My basses are 34" scale. 27" is certainly longer than any of my guitars, though.

Beautiful. I'll echo what some one else said, their LH hand must be huge to handle 10 strings.

it's a 27 inch scale length and I can't wait to hear it too- it's going to be awhile as it will have a varnish finish. I'll try to get a video but these guys ship them out of the door before I can grab them! Bruce just told me it has the color on it and the first coat of finish- I will get some pictures.

How is that different from a cittern?

P.S. I have a Gallatin F mandocello that is magnificent!

Any updates? I'm obsessed with the idea of this now.

Would love to see finished pictures. And maybe a sound clip.

    @marcus - the string gauges. You won't see a .074 C on a Cittern

It's funny you should ask..this instrument will be ready to ship any day now to it's very patient owner. I am posting some pictures taken during finish but don't want to post any of it completely done until the owner sees it in person, first. Unfortunately it looks like I didn't get any more pics of the whole thing. We won't be able to get sound clips before it leaves but I will definitely ask him if he would be so kind to put a few out, and perhaps a video.

This is off topic, but your signature reminds me of awhile back, when we got the spruce pictured from AK the truck driver said, 'boy, I thought that was expensive firewood'. (Bruce is putting a sealer on the ends)

That's a beautiful finish, & really bring out the flame in the back. Sure looks deadly dangerous.

Just curious: did you beef up the top and/or brace thickness as compared to a normal 4 course mandocello? More broadly, are there any construction differences other than those necessary to physically accomodate the extra course?

    Lovely instrument. Thanks.
