Hi. I know there have been threads on this, but does anyone have the mandolin tab for edelweiss-other than just the plain melody? I'm looking for something a little bit more complex Thanks.

Why not work in the chords as you play the melody. You could use the guitar chords interspersed to expand the voice of the melody. This site has the piano chart for free as well for you to work off of. You could always jazz up your chords (or single note substitutions to make it jazzier).

I created a Tabledit file of a version of Edelweiss from Mark Stoffel's cd One-O-Five. It's very beautiful and not too hard to play. If you reply with your email address I can email the file to you or if you can wait a couple of days I'll have it posted on Mandozine.com and I think Mandolincafe has a Tabledit file resource if I can figure out how to upload to it.

Hello Ed,

Did you download the free program called TEFview. If you scroll down to the bottom of the results page there is a button to the right that will help you download TEFview. You will need this to view a Tabledit file. Let me know if you need more help.

Hi Greg:
Yes, I have the TablEdit tablature editor software. On the vast majority of the tabs in the TablEdit search, I get the "What should Firefox do with this file" box when I click to open them, and I just select the default to Open with the TablEdit software.
However, with a few of the tabs, I have run into this same situation where clicking on the tab opens a page of gobble-de-gook.
Besides with new tab entry for Edelweiss, this happens to me when attempting to open:
Crossroad Blues
Evening Prayer Blues (G Compton), and
Sidewalk Strut
Since these other three are all Blues mandolin tabs, I had originally thought that this was just a conspiracy against Blues Mandolin.

You have me stumped? The only thing I can think of to do is take your current TEFview off your computer and reload it. There's a new version of Tabledit that came out a few years ago and your TEFview might not be able to read the newer version tabs. Or maybe you should download the file to your computer and open it from there? That's the only thing I can think of to do.

Ed, the problems you are having are fairly common and there's an easy way around it. When you click on the link to the file it's supposed to download, not display in the browser window which is a clue of sorts. Hold down the Alt key on the keyboard while clicking the link. That forces it to download to your hard drive and you can then open it. Some TablEdit files are just like that and the Mandozine archive has the same issues with some files.

Thank you Greg. That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Ed, Had you not posted the problem you encountered, I would've thought it was just my computer . And thank you Scott- that was a great solution to the problem.
I'm pretty new at this, so if you don't mind my newbie question, how do you play an F#m, and a Bm? Thanks for all your help.

FYI, I like the 4-0-2-2 Bm voicing (played with the ring finger on the 4th fret of the G course, and the middle finger fretting both the A & E courses at the 2nd fret).

I'm glad you like the tab. There is also a chords resource on Mandolincafe. If you go to the homepage and look to the left under Resources and click "Chords" it has the chords you are looking for.
