Got to hear it played this past weekend, what a mandolin! Although most people talk about Loars in a bluegrass context, this one is superb with other kinds of music. It seemed like whatever style was being played on it, the mandolin had just the right tone for that. Amazing instrument.

I believe that Ronnie Reno has a Loar or maybe a couple of them. Mac Martin has a Loar.
Ronnie was listed on my first list that started this thread. And later on it was confirmed he has more than 3. While Mac does have a Loar I always thought him to be known as a guitar player and therefore did not list him on the original list. If he is playing his Loar out regular now he needs to be on the list of pros that pick Loars.
Two just hit the classifieds, both Feb 18th 1924. Good prices too

Good luck trying to "buddy" with Stills. He doesn't trust ANYBODY...and is always all BUSINESS < 100% of the time >. I got the chance to work on his NECK & BACK when
he threw it out during a concert back in 2002 at the Belterra Casino in Indiana. I also
tried to "buddy" (connect) with him during his treatment session. He was polite, but
cautious....and all business, and he doesn't "buddy up" with strangers--including me.
Even though, I was his doctor at the time--giving him a FREE treatment at the Casino.
I know he's a collector...I didn't know he owned a Loar. You ain't gonna have any luck trying to buddy up with Stephen Stills--and neither am I.

Not so sure he has a Loar. He bought one for Chris Hillman back in the early 70's. So I was wanting to buddy up with him to see if he would buy one for me too! NOT! All those guys (CSN&Y) are hard to reach but it's Stills and Young that are the vintage collectors. Of coarse I would settle for a good 30's D28 or 40's D45 they both have plenty of.
