Mike has started on my new mandolin. Can't wait to see the results. Getting an f style with an oval hole.

Can't wait to see it either. Any pictures of the model? Love to hear about the luthier made instruments.
Congratulations, Ron!
As Jesse says, we can't wait to see and hear more!
My correspondences with Mike, as well as my observation of the progress of his builds, has been very positive.
I'd say he's a new builder to watch.

Hang in there. Mine was worth the wait. Tough to put it down. I am thoroughly satisfied.

Congratulations, post pics when you can and and mp3 if you can.
I'm getting mine at the end August.

I read the title of this thread and thought you were referring to Mike Holmes of HGTV (has a show where his contracting company fixes the messes other contractors/builder leave behind).

I'll be posting pics as soon as I get any. We talked yesterday about pickguard options. Mike is great at communicating.

Mike sent over some pics last night. I'm having trouble with the wait now. To me, the skill in the shaving to shape is amazing....

Lookin' good Ron!
Be sure to keep us posted.

I'm just amazed with the progress. Mike's a joy to work with. Mine is #36.
I wonder how he's gonna fix that big hole in the middle? wink wink.

Is it finished ? more pics ?
Mike sent more pics last night. The top is now bound to the bottom and fretwork moving nicely! Love the diamonds and fern. Getting closer...

Looking good, Ron. The headstock design is tasteful.
I can't tell from the photo, but did you opt for full binding? I didn't, but haven't regreted it one minute. The sound is super all the same.

Yes I love the headstock! I did go for full binding on it, including the oval.
Mike has been completely on schedule with it throughout but it's still a tough wait.

Man, that looks so great.... I've been waiting in line since December, hope to get mine by the end of August.
It's giving me time to save more money, maybe I'll opt for the F-style...

Here's an adjusted photo of the headstock -
The fern inlay and the diamond fret dots are from Custom Inlay -

I think they both look pretty snazzy if I say so myself.
