Default Bill Frisell for Solo 5-string

Two tunes I adapted from Bill Frisell's "Good Dog, Happy Man", Shenandoah and the title cut.

Thank you for posting that, Tom. Shenandoah is one of my favorite tunes and Frisell's setting is wonderful. You've fitted it so nicely to your 5-string, very effective performance.

What a coincidence seeing this. I just bought my first Bill Frisell CD in a long while yesterday.
    The first man who whistled
thought he had a wren in his mouth.
    He went around all day
    with his lips puckered,
    afraid to swallow.

Nice, very nice, I enjoyed that. Thanks! I saw Bill Frisell, a great favourite of mine, a few years back in Newcastle Upon Tyne, with the amazing Malian guitarist Djelimady Tounkara (now in Afrocubism) and slide genius Greig Leisz, and a couple of others - it was a fantastic gig! I wish they'd play in the UK more. His albums are highly inventive and interesting - and I love "The Intercontinentals" he did. Top cd.

It sounds great! Is it recorded in one take, with your Ryder, or is it layered? The string separation is really great and I love the sound of the attack. Nice trebles and drones Wants me to get a better standard scale (not octave) emando.
Check out www.myspace.com/snortingmaradonas for a Swedish punk band where I play emando

Funny how it has different effects on different people. It makes me want to invite Tom over to my house to play his five-string!

Beautiful tune and playing. I love the droning C-string. Are you running any effects on this?

Single take on a MicroTrack portable recorder, reverb and chorus added afterward in SoundForge. (My copy of ProTools has stopped working, maybe due to Windows Update.)

My goal these days is true solo repertoire, covering melody, bass, and harmony. Bach takes care of itself, the fun is taking a Beatles song or jazz standard and finding the fullest sound.
