If you google "truss rod cover" you'll see half a dozen opportunities.

Since we are talking TRCs. I would like to get a goldwire inlay in my Weber TRC. Any suggestions?
Dave Nichols at www.custompearlinlay.com in Malone, NY.
Bryan England's Custom Inlay will make you almost anything that you want. Here's one that they 'custom made' for me,& Weber had them make the TRC on my Fern. They have 8 pages of Mandolin TRC designs alone,

Here's some pics. of my new TRC from Ed Weber.( customscrimshaw.com) Just recieved it today for my weber "coyote" . Ed does exceptional work and is the nicest person you could hope to meet. BTW,,Ed has just started with Big Joe in Nashville,,so the mandolin community now has two great gentlemen under the same roof to deal with.
Thanks Ed...Great job!!!

I have had great experiences with Doug Edwards.
"Put your hands to the wood
Touch the music put there by the summer sun and wind
The rhythms of the rain, locked within the rings
And let your fingers find The Music in the Wood."

Thanks for the pics.of your TRC Bob - beautiful workmanship,

Ed has made several truss rod covers for me and I love them. I asked him to do one for my mandolin recently and I wanted to call it "Be-Bop", the name of my dog. He said he wanted to do a portrait of Be-Bop as well as just the name. Now I have to get the dog to sit still long enough to get a picture. He does not like his picture taken.
Ed is a true artist, not only in the banjo world, but as a scrimshander. His work in ivory is all done by hand... no CNC or laser cutters. If you want the finest in an artistic truss rod cover just get hold of Ed or call my shop and we will get you together with him. Ed is a true friend and one of the finest people you could EVER know.
Have a Great Day!

Personally I don't know whether most TRC upgrades would suit the aesthetics of the F9. -Generally a bit blingy which could potentially work against what the flag F9 seems to fly.
Perhaps I'd investigate an ebony TRC, with a simple inlay similar to some of the Doug Edwards armrests i have seen.
Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.
I don't want bling, just some simple custom to make it mine
Cheesecutters suggestion Luthiersupply and others that sell many designs premade are usually at lower cost. I had Dave Nichols at Custompearlinlay make a nice one for me. I guess it's a little blingy but melows down well in place on the headstock.

Thanks to all for the info here, I am updating (a little late) I got my truss rod cover and armrest from http://hillcountrystringworks.com/index.html and LOVE the work he does. Thanks again!
Do it yourself. They're not hard. And if you want simple inlay, again, it's not hard. I taught myself.
My latest TRC for my latest mandolin was a piece of walnut veneer, backed with fiberglass tape impregnated with CA to reinforce it enough for it not to crack going on and coming off, and then wood-burned my little personalization. Very nice, if I do say so myself, fit the overall ethos of the rest of the wood, and not blingy at all.
Though I gotta say, you may all see my poor attempt to teach myself scrimshaw on the next instrument ...

The bad news is that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. The good news is that what kills us makes it no longer our problem
Not sure who made this, it's pretty nice.
