Congrats, Jeffd, on your new acquisition. Still hammering away on my Stiver F, and loving it as much as ever. I run J-74's on it. Had the extension scooped around a year ago and the frets dressed (by certain John Hamlett, AKA Sunburst around these parts) so its still a pleasure to play (though I am putting a hurtin' on the frets again, won't be long before it'll need that refret). Again, enjoy the new jewell, you'll come to love it if you don't already.

Here's a recent pic of my 2-point. I should take some glamor shots of it sometime.

I do not catch and release. I purchase to own and love for ever. The very few times I have sold a mandolin, it was difficult to part with, albeit necessary.
    Congrats JeffD!

Sounds like a killer bluegrass axe!

Its a beauty. Its more mandolin than I can play. (Will ever be able to play.) Which is the way I like it because I will always be discovering new hallways and rooms in the mansion.

    Looks Killer Dude!

I know you're havin a blast! There's nothin like getting a new, really nice mando to begin exploring and on which you keep comin back to play...I expect to be in the same situation in roughly 4 weeks upon receipt of my used Grayson.

    That Stiver is "Da Bomb"...

Yea I will be in honeymoon mode for a couple of months. After that I will go play something else, just to be able to come back to it.

Stiver told me he sets his mandolins up with J-75's. Very nice mandolins guys, love the 2 points! Stiver is on my list that always grows and grows. Just too many awesome builders out there.

Very muscular mandolin. I have to learn how to rein it in for slower prettier tunes. Its a driver not a putter.

I snagged the one at AMW with the one-piece back. I've only played some older Stivers, and F5's at that. I am looking forward to playing the two-point.

I think the newer ones are even better... A little less woody and good for everything from bluegrass to mandolin orchestra, with incredible volume. I've owned a couple Stivers and the one I've kept and will never sell is a 2009 F5. Lou seems to get better with age...

I own a 2001 Stiver F, number S42-10-01, purchased from Steve Miklas in Pittsburgh in February, 2009. Does anyone know its history? I've always been curious. Steve said it came from California.
