Nice picking Chuck, I think you'd get a thumbs up from Mr. & Mrs. Blake.
I listened to it twice...from the tiny [which can also be interpreted as "tinny"-sounding] speakers on the laptop the music had an autoharp or hammered dulcimer sound [says a little for the quality of laptop speakers, huh?]; then I listed through my headphones [at least they are a few steps up in base response from the laptop speakers] and got the blend of the two instruments. Did you add any reverb to the final mix? Good stuff - keep up the good work...

Mike,
Thank you for listening.
I did add a little reverb. The big room I play in has a lot of sound absorbing objects and is carpeted. I got a chance to jam recently in an old school building with nothing in a room of wooded floors and chalk boards. That was so nice.
Regards,
chuck
I like it Chuck! Always have been a big fan of Norman & Nancy

Nice playing, Chuck. That's one of my favorite Nancy Blake tunes--it sounds great.
Very nice rendition Chuck. Do you know if there is notation available for the tune?
Jim Baker
Thanks Chuck. I'll learn it from the sound file. A bit harder but that way I'll learn it quicker maybe.

Sounds great Chuck. Jim Nancy Blake wrote this tune in the key of A and the tab is on The Mandolin Of Norman Blake. The DVD has some great tunes to play along with and is well worth it's modest cost.
Thanks Hank. Nearly got it tabbed out in tabledit. Just fiddling with repeats. Not quite clear on the sequence. I think it's AA-B-CC but it has me confused.

Hey Jim I noticed this lesson on sale for $19.99 today @ Homespuns.
For anyone interested, here is an abc file of this tune to the best of my ability. Feel free to edit.

Thank you, Jim.
Just learning this gem of a tune. It’s on the “Norman Blake & Tony Rice 2” CD with Doc Watson and Nancy Blake joining in on the musical mirth & merriment. Another great mandolin tune on this CD is “Bright Days” and also is quite lovely.
Many thanks Chuck, Guys, love it!
This definitely has the Doc Watson spirit to it. Really like the different variations and that great carefree woodland tone!
I've posted a musescore of Jim's .abc file. It has a lot of Chuck's variations. There's a pdf that I've squeezed onto one page too.
Enjoy!

So far, I am playing the tune at about half the speed of Norman and Tony:

Hey Jim if you want the whole world to see your vid then you need to adjust the country permissions tab in Youtube.
-the other option is that you invite everyone over to your place in Oregon. Hope you've got, like a LOT of blueberry pancake mix!
Nice - I used to pick this one as well, now I am inspired to give it whirl again!
So many Gems from Nancy and Norman, where did all these great tunes ever come from!
I believe there is tab out there somewhere.

Yep, fun to get Father's Hall under the fingers again. Bright Days too. Never tackled Thebes--that's a good one too.

I have the Norman Homespun lesson as well, where I learned this one, but a heads up: Mandozine has all the tunes from his Homespun in tabledit format. They also have Thebes - both for mandolin and guitar.
