    Default 2010 Buckeye

Just picked up #55 from Pete Hart last Friday. I hope this 'upload' turns out OK. If you can see the grain well enough you will notice that this is birdseye maple that has a little curly maple in it also. Pete builds a fantastic mandolin. I love it.

I'm not too skilled with the camera or the computer, so excuse any mistakes.

Here's a couple more. If you click on the back picture you can see the grain in the neck, and you'll again see birdseye and curly maple. I'm thrilled to be a member of the Buckeye club. This is a banjo killer!

I especially like the back wood. Well, IŽm a backwoodsman anyways.

    Do I see a pronounced V-shapeŽd neck?

    May I request
    - a headstock picture
    - a soundclip/video

Everybody seems to be into abreviated fretboards. This oneŽs nice.

    Enjoy!

Congrats. It is a beautiful instrument. I really like the choice of colors and the more subtle sunburst. I also like the black keyed tuners -- if I were having one made I might consider ordering mine with matching black binding as well? I heard several of these Buckeyes and they have a powerful sound about them.

I'll get those picture for you this weekend.

Sound clip........I don't know how to do that yet. If I can I will. It sounds great.

I had the opportunity to play Johnny Statts (sp ?) old Buckeye , here about a month ago and have to say I was impressed with the tone. If I wasnt a builder myself and was looking for a mandolin, that would be the one. Great job Pete, hope to meet you some day.

Striking mandolin. I like the sunburst and the grain in the front as well. Just a beautiful instrument all around.

The bridge appears to be slanted toward the tailpiece. Was that intentional?

Yes, it appears that way in that photo, but it's not slanted at all. I think I have the camera positioned just slightly from the right on the center of the bridge.

Yep Jimmy thats the same wood that yours came out of. I didnt get to hear this one though, Pete was spraying finish on it the last time I saw it so I didnt get to see it strung up. Bob just FYI that maple came from a woods a little South West of Mount Gilead Ohio. Congrats on getting it, its a beauty.

Congrats, on owning such a beautiful instrument! On your first post, it was said "it looks like my instrument". I know Jimmy, and when I first seen it, I thought it was his with that beautiful birdseye, sort of curly back. Has to be the same board

    3fingers,

You have great maple in those woods. This mandolin is a beauty and it has a good, deep, woody voice. Pete is a great builder!

It's been about 7 months now. Buckeye #55 has already opened up quite a bit. A beautiful deep tone. The chop fills a room.

Are these beautiful mandolins here just to rub in the drubbing they gave my Razorbacks last night?
