Mandolin doesn't appear visually in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, but it is prominent in Carter Burwell's Oscar-nominated score in several themes. The score didn't win, but Frances McDormand picked up best actress and Sam Rockwell took best supporting actor. Pretty good movie, overall, too.

While streaming the movie "The Bookshop" I saw this in the background. I had to rewind it. It is a re-do of a Bill Monroe hatch poster made into other names. But it appears to be Monroe's pic with the mandolin. It must be an homage to this man, George Greenlees. It caught my eye.

The movie came out in 1987, I think.
I saw it a long time ago but I kinda remember a scene where a mandolin was played.

That was the version of the band that included Peter Rowan and Willy Nelson.

I was going to mention it. Just for an instant, an italian immigrant coal minor plays a bowl back. Great movie, well worth watching, but probably not for just the mandolin content.
