Question beginning picker looking for a mando

    Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner picker that has had a mandolin for about 5 years now and i have finally decided to dedicate my time to it. It is def one of the cheapest mandos you can get... it is one of the Rogue A-style beginner packages. I have decided I want to get a F-style that is a good beginner bluegrass mando.... any suggestions? I would like for it to have a pickup as well. Price range is <$500...

    Thanks!

Doubt you're going to find an F-style for under $500 that comes with a pickup. For a sub 500bux F-style I'd recommend taking a look at the Rover RM75 - it's gotten good feedback from the folks here at the cafe who own them. Here's a link with the specs etc to one at The Mandolin Store:

Maybe a used Michael Kelly will fit the bill (<$500). Several models are available with a built in pickup/pre-amp. Shop the Cafe Classifieds.

the labor is expensive making a scroll, at the bottom end of the price scale it costs in quality somewhere else ..

'A' styles have all the same notes. posing or music pick one..

Got a store to go to to try them out , the various imports got the look down ,

but you have to play one,in your hands , to know what they sound like .

like puppies , each litter is full of individuals.

stick a pickup on it later ..

The best deal on a new F style is the Rover RM-75. Solid woods, decently made and will be a huge improvement on your Rogue. Better would be to by a Kentucky KM-505 A style for about the same money. Better mandolin, even though it does not have the fancy scroll of an F.
