Default New Weber Octar (D-hole) in the house!

The Octar has arrived. For those who may not be familiar with this Weber beastie, it is an octave mandolin neck wedded to a smallish archtop guitar body. First impression- amazing rich sound with plenty of volume. The entire instrument comes alive when played. The scale length is no problem so far. I'll post pictures and try to do a sound clip when I can.

No sound clip yet- sorry. Here are pictures though. Mandolin Store guru Dennis ordered a nice subtle burst on the top. It's a Gallatin type with no back binding and a satin finish.

It looks wonderful. Mine doesn't have the bound sound hole. I am envious.

Looks like standard octave scale is 23.5 and 'cello scale is 25.

Scale length is 24. Yes-it's a stretch but not a problem for me.

Yes, I saw an F-holed Octar at CMSA this year. That was exactly my impression -- about a 95% scale copy of a K-5 mandocello.

Looks gorgeous, Barb, and I'll look forward to the sound samples as well. The guitar-bodied OMs are very cool (I am fortunate to give home to an Old Wave model) and have a rich and unique and vibrant sound. Enjoy!
