Millpond's my favorite. Beautiful scenery, small crowd, intimate workshop tent, fun activities for kids, and always a stellar line-up.
But alas, I won't be making it there this year. Went last year, probably we'll go again next year. My sister will be there, I'll have to trust her to bring me some discs from the most likely-sounding bands. She's never failed me in the past. It was Millpond and my sister who introduced me to Laura Love. I first saw the Waybacks there, and teada, Laurie Lewis and Iris Dement... and it was great fun to see Arlo there.... I could go on and on.
Envy you, duuuude, have a great time, wish I were there.
Wow, looks like it'll just be me & stanley.
Oh well, makes the Bushmills last longer!

Bushmills? Duuuude, that's what we use to remember Bill. You guys should bring Old #7 and remember me!
Well, guess it's just me now, huh? Along with the Bushmills and ole No. 7, sure gonna be a lonely fest.

Oh, I 'm sorry. I just read the post about stanley in General Discussions, and I'm so sorry, Mike, that this will be a memorial Millpond for you. Well, drink the music in deeply, duuude, and enjoy it twice as much in his memory. If the good folks and fine music at Millpond, and the Eastern Sierra peaks and stars, don't offer some solace, I don't know what in this world can.
Yeah, there'll be alot of pickin' & rememberin' that's for sure. But as you said, what better setting to remember a great pickin' buddy than Millpond, the cozy little festival he turned me onto last year. Thanks for the thougts, pickles.

So, how was it?
Cold, windy and wonderful! Biggest hoot was seein' Mike Marshall of course, and that Daryl Anger can absolutely rip it up on fiddle, where Mike is no slouch himself. They were a high point of the fest for sure. Spent mosta my time cruisin' between the camp, where the wind was tolerable, and the top of the hill watchin' the stage. Even the performers were wearin' jackets most of the time, but everyone still had a big smile pasted on their face. All in all a great time!

Amazing how cold it can get there once the sun goes down. Musn't forget the snuggling gear.
So, any surprises? What I've loved about past Millponds is "discovering" people I hadn't heard before and wouldn't want to miss again.
