Mine arrived yesterday and it's terrific! Really comfortable, and looks great too. Highly recommended.

I got mine for Christmas and I love it! One thing that I found as an unexpected benefit was an improved tone, which I haven't seen many other people mention. My mandolin sounded good before...now it sounds great! Apparently I was muting more with my forearm than I realized.
Plus, the wood is gorgeous.
I just wish I'd gotten it when I got my mandolin!
Just a followup. I've changed out the cork to soft leather (provided graciously by Doug) and it went well.
The surface damage on one mando polished out completely. The other is very minimal residual (it is a varnish/French polish).
Still a very happy Doug E. armrest user!!

What glue and precleaner did you use Phil?
I just got one and it's awesome. Very comfortable, no more grooves in my arm. Doug was great to deal with and the armrest arrived quickly.

Thanks to all for the positive notes.
Currently I'm way behind in my production due to an illness in December.
Today I'm in Waco where my dad has undergone surgery for two subdermal hematoma's. I'll be out of town and the shop a few more days planning for his return home. He has alzhemers and will need specoial care.
Thanks for your patience to those who are waiting for me to complete your products.
Doug;
We understand and hope for the best for you and your family. We'll be here when everything settles down. Our thoughts and prayers go to you and your family.

One day I'll stop all this crazy buyin', practicin', and playin'........course I'll be dead.......
Here's wishing your Dad a good recovery, Doug! And you take care.
Just put one on My Mid Missouri M-1. It works great and fits fine.
In changing out the cork for leather padding:
On the metal clamp, I just used a knife to separate the cork from the metal.
On the wood, I did the same, but I couldn't get every trace of the cork & adhesive off the wood. So I just got as much off as possible and scraped a little to get the surface fairly even, and then didn't worry about it any more. Used NO SOLVENTS.
Doug suggested white glue to attach the leather, so I applied a little bead of Elmer's Glue along the surfaces and pressed the leather strip into place. Let it dry. Worked great.

I like mine very comfortable. Just make sure you get one that is sealed if you get a stained one. I guess I got one that snuck out of the shop that wasn't and when I played in hot sweaty weather in the summer the stain came off all over my arm and soaked into my binding. Gave me a good scare but with Doug's advice and a little Goof Off it came right off. I sealed it with poly and it is was good to go.
Also my cork on the inside kept moving around so I took it off and re-glued it with super glue and no problems since.
I like how it holds my arm out a little so I pick a little cleaner. Also I think I might be getting beginning carpal syndrom cuz some of my fingers go numb sometimes and with the armrest it helps a lot.
I'd like to get an ebony one next!
Just getting back to this thread. Thanks Phil and Jim on the glue suggestions for changing the cork out with leather. Doug hope you are well and your father is recovering from his surgery.
I returned to Kerrville Thursday and went back to Temple Friday night. We had a birthday party for my two year old grand daughter & me today. I came back tonight, will work in the shop a couple of days before going back to Waco for a couple of days. We're pooped.
Dad is still extremely confused, does not recognize me. He does show some good signs from time to time. We hope to get him into a rehab on Monday.
Thanks
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I received my McClung cherry armrest today, and so far I'm loving it.
Yep, I got to reply to this thread as well. I currently have three Mcclungs and I have gotten really used to them.
Almost to the point that I consider them a essential piece of equipment for my mandolins.
And Mr. Doug Edwards is great to do business with. Hats off!

Have three...wouldn't play without one. My wife loves shopping at Doug's website!

Been going through similar with my mother for several months. Just have to keep the faith!
On another note, just got my armrest yesterday and it fits/matches superbly. Thanks again! As soon as ebony ones are ready, have to get one for the other instrument. Great product(s)!

Looking Good There Doug! I like the new Elyse Mae model, congratulations! Same here on the McClung armrest recommendations. I've got one on all three of my mandolins along with a custom Edwards Ebony finger rest on my Goldrush. Great folks with a very good product.
