    Default atlantic city again-PLEASE

i know this has been talked to death but i'm a newbie still having problems. i just want to play the song for my grand daughter. i look up the guitar tabs and it says to capo. my question is, what chord to i start with on mandolin?? i want to stay the same key levon helm is using, as that's the only key i could sing it in. what i've done so far doesn't sound right. please list the chords and i will be eternally grateful. i watched some video, but my eyes aren't worth a #### anymore and i can't tell what they're playing.-dave

try chordie.com, - there looks to be a few variants of the song.

on the right hand side of the page, you can change tunings from guitar to mando and it will give you the chart of chords used. cool handy little site

EDIT: wait. atlantic city again. not atlantic city huh. sorry I can't help. I still say chordie's pretty cool though

    good luck

Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.

    Hey Ben,

You were right the first time. Levon (actually it was The Band) did a cover of the Sprinsteen song.

yea, the again thing was because i figure it had been talked to death already. my attempt at wit- sorry.--- i use chordie. really like it when i can figure things out. not that computer literate. ears & eyes don't work like they used to. ---- i saw the variations at chordie. i just wondered what chord to start with to match levons key on either the band or his solo stuff. i believe he stays in the same key all the time. i'm not a tab reader, that's way to hard on the eyes. just looking for chords-dave

No offense but did you actually look?

    http://chordie.com/chord.pere/www.gu...e=&tuning=GDAE

Looks like the chords are listed right above the lyics.

    Em G C G

Correct me if I'm wrong here but...chord names != tabs.

Go ahead have a look, no harm in trying.

    Hey Dwilken,

Here is a video I made to the intro to Atlantic city. It is in the same key Levon sings it in! It shows you the chord shapes he used in the song minus an E major which is: G String 4th Fret, D String 2nd Fret, A String 2nd Fret, E String 4th fret. Hope this helps.

    -Andrew

    Intro: F#Minor, A Major, D Major, A Major x 4
    Verse: F# Minor, A Major, D Major, A Major x3 F#Minor, A Major, E Major
    Chorus: F# Minor, A Major, D Major, A Major x 4
    Bridge: D Major, F# Minor, D Major, E Major, F#Minor, D Major, F# Minor, E Major
