Default Thread for Social Group MP3 posting

The Social Groups do does not allow the posting of images and MP3s, but you can certainly post them elsewhere and link to them. I'm creating this thread for that purpose. Those of you in Social Groups if you want to link to an MP3 and need to upload it you can simply upload it to this thread and then link to it.

Then as soon as the upload completes, the address bar of your browser will reflect a link to the posting. Or, if you want the exact address of the MP3, you'll need to click on the sound file and then copy that resulting link.

Just a couple of us jamming. Audio quality's not perfect (laptop microphone), but you can hear everything pretty well.

Here's my attempt at tabbing out the Harpsicord solo to In My Life. A little tricky to play on mandolin, but I tried to get it close to the original. Might need to modify it to work for you-See what you think. In My Life ( Harpsicord Solo) TL.tef

Ok, I'm confused. I recently got a Mac.... how do I listen to this mp3? Assuming it works for the rest of ya'll, Eddie, I think you should start a discussion in the Social Group, called The Shoals of Herring, and link to this MP3 there...

You could open it with Quicktime or Winamp (but you'll have to download that).

Barbara - download the file, then delete the ".html" from the end of the file name. You can then open it with Quicktime, iTunes, or whatever you'd like.

I'm still clueless on how to listen to these mp3's! I'm pretty sure I listened to one of these when I had my pc, but can't figure it out with the Mac. If I just click on the link in the discussion, it downloads into my 'downloads'. I can find the file on my hard drive, but, how do I go about deleting the .html from the file? I'm sure I could figure out how to do that on the PC, but just can't figure it out on the Mac! Then, once I do that, I could click on it and open it with whatever program. Please help!

I'll try my hand at attaching an mp3. I just did this in Garage Band, it's me playing the melody on one track, and I'm just learning playing chords, so it's me accompanying the melody with chords, all on my Collings MT2O mandolin.

When I click on it, it downloads. I guess there's no easy way to just listen to it without downloading it... same goes for my mp3 above...

Barbara, when you click on an mp3 file it should open in iTunes. Here it obviously work since there is some kind of weird html file created?! But yeah, it works if you delete the .html from the file. If you don't know how to on a Mac, right-click and choose GET INFO and go down to name and extension, delete it and press enter. Done.

    Superb job on the concerto!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee, I should get on with a different tune! But, this is all a learning experience, right? After some telephone sound editing advice from my son, I experimented with some of the settings, same recordings, of Wren's Hornpipe.

    Here's the revised version!
