    Default The power of YouTube

As some of you know, I sold my soul--for good or bad--to YouTube sometime back. I have a ton of videos.

It's times like this that do make it fun. I wrote a tune a couple weeks back in anticipation of Monroe Camp and the fun I'll have hanging out with friends, mentors, and in one of my favorite Kentucky towns. I live 90 miles away from Owensboro and have stopped there several times.

I posted the tune Meeting at Owensboro on YouTube. This past week a lady bluegrasser singer/songwriter from Austin Texas (where I too used to live albeit briefly) wrote some words to the tune and posted her version. She's got a great voice and a penchant for fun.

Her name is Theresa Arnold and I encourage you to check out her YouTube channel:

really good - seems so casual and off-the-cuff ... really, really good! - complimenti a tutti!

the purchase of my soul was not discussed when i first logged onto youtube ... is this a good thing ... or a bad thing?

Ridiculous how the internet has affected our lives...you're doing cool duets with a lady in Texas about a town in Kentucky from Indiana, and I'm sitting here going, "That's cool," rather than, "You mean she's in Texas, and he's in Indiana, and they didn't plan this...AMAZING!" Ours was out yesterday for a few hours and my wife and kids went into withdrawal...

    Anyway, cool post, Jim--thanks!

That was great Jim and Thereas. Great collaboration and I liked it stripped down to just the two of you. Great picking and great singing.

VERY cool!!!........Reminds me of a Pat Metheny concert at UC Berkeley's Greek theater years ago.......some women, as I recall from Oakland, had written lyrics to one of Pat's instrumentals, and sent a tape to him.........he brought them out on stage & they performed it live.

Nice, It's the new way, I read an article on the making of Jerry Lee Lewis's making of his disc Last Man Standing and a few of the special contributor's sent their input back and forth via the internet, Jimmy Page was one of them. Nice plucking!

I couldn't find the original read, but this came up on a search....
