I just picked up Doyle's "School" CD today. Wow! Thank you Scotti T & Mandolin Cafe for suggesting this on the home page a few weeks ago!

    I might add -
Hand Picked- 25 years of Bluegrass on Rounder Records (2cds)
    Mountain Soul - Patti Loveless
    3 Pickers
Flatt & Scruggs Complete Mercury Recordings (not much mando, tho)
Bluegrass Mandolin Extravaganza - 2cds (whole lotta mando)

Ditto to the Three Pickers with Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson. The "Road to Spencer is a great instrumental, as well as, Bluegrass Mandolin Extravaganza. Also, Broke by King Wilkie.

gotta go with my fav Vern Williams "Bluegrass From the Gold Country"

add a little "Skaggs & Rice" ca 1980

maybe finish with the smithsonian recordings of Bill Mun-ro and Doc Watson, vol2

For some older stuff that's less known that I discovered and flipped out over:

Wyatt Rice and Santa Cruz - Picture in a Tear

A little known Instrumental Album (excet by banjo players), that is easily in my top 2 or 3 ALL time favorite Instrumental CDs, pick up "TEAM FLATHEAD - The Huber Banjo Sessions".

For "new" stuff, pick up any of the Chapman's stuff or Kenny & Amanda Smith Band CDs. Very good instrumentation and harmony. Ronnie Bowman's "Starting Over" is also a winner.

Also, Lonesome River Band's "Window of Time".

I've enjoyed "Travelin Band" by Bluegrass Etc.. with John Moore lately.

Has anyone heard about Ricky Skaggs new one coming soon? I think it's called "Brand New Strings".

Just pulled out the Kentucky Colonels "Livin in the Past" CD. Classic.

Roland White and Clarence White's vocal harmonies were beautiful. Clarence White is a flatpicking legend, and Roland White a mando legend.

    Great bluegrass.
