As it has been in the past, that fest is NOT open to the public. It is for registered guests and tenants of the resort. I happen to be here in Myrtle Beach on vacation, and found out what the story was when I phoned them.

Hey E-body, I went down to the beach it was alright. IIIrd Tyme Out, Blue Highway, Grascals, Rhonda Vincent,James King were there .And yes you do have to be camping at the camp ground to see the bands. Ive been down there the last few years ,well year before last they were lots of jams at campers. last year they were one they announced that they didnt want picking at the campers, they were O picking at the campers this year, and at the show they announced they encoureged picking at the campsites, HIPPOCRITS, NOT HAPPY with the camp ground but did enjoy all of the bands / Im from cana va. so I really do like the James King Band, when he puts on a show, he is real what you see is what he is, by the way he is from cana also. So long story short I'll be back next year and Im going to take down some pickers with me and pick at the camper.

Long years ago there used to be a festival at Myrtle Beach around Thanksgiving, I guess that one no longer goes on.

That is Ron Spears on mandolin and singing tenor with the James King Band. Ron and I go back to 1976 and we were the founders of Within Tradition. I did talk to him while we both were in Myrtle Beach, and he is enjoying the band and travelling, as King has alot of dates booked.

I will be at the MB Fest in November - I live just down the road in Murrells Inlet. I would like to invite any pickers (and friends) down to my place for some picking. Let me know if you are coming...

Hey Johnny, I'll probably be back down there, I've got some friends from spartanburg that go down every year. I'll check with them and maybe all of us can get together and have a good jam (maybe you can fix a good chicken bogg) I lived in myrtle for 12 years, and grew fond of chicken bogg. I'll let you no whats up.

mando picker drop me a line before you come down. I have a restuarant/bar and will try to host a jam and chicken bogg! Our chef is a Pawley's Island native and makes a mean chicken bogg...
