    Default Elkhorn Koa F-5 IV

Here are a few photos and an mp3 of the latest Elkhorn Koa F-5 in the white. Just been strung up for 24 hours and I'm really liking the tone of the Koa/Red Cedar combination! This Koa is becoming harder and harder to find and I feel very fortunate to have come across some really nice stuff in the past couple of years. It's going to be finished with spirit varnish and french polish. Can't wait to see this Koa come alive!!Click image for larger version.

My thanks. Nice sounding instrument. Lots of punch. Great not definition. Very nice mids.
    Whatever all that means. :-)

Wow Robb, I'm a traditional kind of guy and love my spruce over maple, but man that is a killer combination both tonally and visually! Great work as usual. Have you ever thought of doing some "A's" in some non-traditional wood combos?

ID:	98034 Thanks for all the great comments on the Koa F-5. I really love working this stuff. Just found this scroll detail shot and thought you all might enjoy checking it out. Can't wait to get the finish going on this mandolin; it's going to be sweet!
