They wanted him to go to rehab but he said no, no, no!

Pardon the non-mando diversion; I'm having way too much fun with this program. This is one of my 11 year-old that will resonate with any parents:

Here's one.
Someone suggested a better caption than the one above.
I didn't make this but I thought it was fitting.
I thought I would try my hand at this.

had a crack.... just got back from the National Music Muster (Gympie)
Oh. So you mean the hole needs to go down to 18 mm from the bottom of the board, not 18 mm into the board. Well.

Good ones, Jim. I had never seen a Giacomel with a burst before. To me, it looks MUCH better than the blonde version.
I agree, they look incredible in red burst. (Here is a link to more pics of that pair -- and mandolin and dola.)

got someone in mind for the lefty, magnus?
It's actually the inside of a righty. The issue, as it were, is in the center of the board... A hole straight through.
It's also a bit of fakery, as I put it there on purpose to prevent myself from chickening out on a new sound hole I want to try. The picture was just meant to be part of the general documentation, but when I saw it it just screamed "MISTAKE!" to me.
Now you have me thinking about adding a lefty to the current batch. Oh dear.

cool... when i first posted i thought it was a back in progress... made me wonder if anybody had carved first, thinked later and started to carve the wrong side... some kind of accidental lefty i guess?
Can't help myself...

Magnus, you could probably sell prints... if the luthiers could afford em. That's a good morning chuckle.

That's the Carolina Chocolate Drops. They are awesome. Not bluegrass but highly recommended. They're probably the best known touring African American Stringbands keeping the tradition of that music alive. No mandolin, great guitar, banjo, fiddle and jug work though.
