    Default Your summer daze?

I'm working all summer so I will just be going to shows and relaxing a bit, maybe. But mostly I will be devoted to my mandolin and improving my plays. I really miss the summers with friends and field trip and vacations. What your summer daze gonna be like?

This summer (and into fall) I have a LOT of traveling and vacations on my plate.

First, out to Seattle for a wedding. Be there about a week.

Then a 1 1/2 week Eastern European river cruise (primarily Prague, Regensburg, Vienna, Salzburg, Budhapest).

Then a week at Canouan Island in the Grenadines. Some golf, snorkeling, and drinks with umbrellas in them.

Those are the plans so far. Fill in the gaps with work and the year's gone already!

I mentioned this on another thread and you wished me well. Thanks, man! I'm headed for beautiful Leelanau County Michigan for the summer. Sand dunes, beaches, and Lake Michigan. Plus old friends. I'm taking my mandolin and my lap steel and plan to play a lot of music. I'm more than ready. I'll be leaving this Thursday. Retirement is good!

If all goes well I will be building a tear drop camper and taking it to festivals.

Yep. The middle of Austral summer is around Christmas. I won't be here for that, thank God. McMurdo is like a giant frat house party in the summer.

Hopefully lots of gigs for our band, lot's of camping at festivals.

And also I have been shopping for a motorcycle. I don't know what I want yet but sgarrity just bought a big bad Harley and they are sure pretty cool looking (and sounding).

So maybe my summer (or part of it) will be of me riding my bike through the mountains with a mandolin on my back! LOL!

I am practicing at least 2hrs a day, but oftentimes up to 6. Also, at least an hour of piano a day, and an hour of music theory study and/or ear training ( I'm a music major, so it's not completely self motivation as much as preparation for next year).

Jim remember, when it comes to spending money it's much better to have another mandolin that looks and sounds cool than a motorcycle! Just tryin' to make sure your priorities are in order!.

Got about 30 gigs lined up for July & August; that should take care of the music side of things. Gonna visit son and daughter-in-law in Cambridge, spend a bit of time in MA. Getting some house repairs done, keeping the lawn mowed, the usual. I like summer -- the bird feeder's pretty active, with goldfinch, cardinal, sapsucker, dove, chickadee, various finches, nuthatch, bluejay, today a titmouse. Keep the grackles away, I'm happy.

Off to my first Bluegrass Festival this weekend & i'm looking forward to showing my Mandolin ineptitude to all & sundry ! . Seriously,i love to jam & the same festival last year (the Coastline Bluegrass Event - look at their website) had plenty of opportunity.Hopefully, the fickle UK weather will show it's best side - currently it's in the low 70's (F) & very sunny - next week end,well.......,

A vacation to SC and VA, to visit my two daughters, where I plan to attend open jams in the three different cities and also jam with each of my daughters' boyfriends, who are both guitar players. The rest of the Summer I will attend a lot of local jams and really work on re-building my tune list, which I have let go for more than a year now. I will also do my usual playing mando and OM at church most Sundays.

Our summer will be pretty low key, with no travel planned, and attending a few local festivals and concerts at best.

After 4 weeks without a day off, I'm looking forward to some beach time in June...planning on living out the Zac Brown Band song "Toes," but maybe adding a verse about some mando and guitar picking...
